LCD’s installed in motorcars creating problems

Youngsters fun created problem for commuters of highways and motorways as the LCD installed in the motorcars detract attention and may cause a grave problem for commuters. After tape recorders, radio and deck there is a latest trend of installing Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) in the motorcars especially by the youngsters which causes serious life threat for them as well as for the motorist travelling beside them.
Ashgar, a government employ said that life is a mere fun for these youngsters who drove their cars on busy roads keeping their complete concentration of the LCD’s. “Is there no one to check them”, he argued.
“I often observe teenagers onboard with their friends on their cars play LCD and drive carelessly just in enjoyment specially in the evening and night”, commented Akhtar a resident of I-10. He added that vans plying on different routes of twin cities have also installed LCD in their motors for amusing their passengers. “Cars and coaches having LCD are more in demand and extra charges are paid for these vehicles”, said Aslam an honor of a `Rent a Car’.
Spokesman Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police said that traffic police have already forwarded a summery to interior ministry for imposing fine on the use of LCD in the vehicles while driving.
He said that in the summary a fine of Rs. 1000 has been proposed. LCD detracts attention of drivers as the mobile phone and it is a serious hazard for the life the motorists, he commented, adding that almost 10 percent vehicles plying on the roads of twin cities are using LCD in their vehicles as a source of enjoyment.

Bus driver knows that if he stops bus, the bus engine will goes off, so he thought whatever will happen let the bus go away even many people were injured due to this incident as per reported on GEO TV.

Over 5500 personnel including 1500 city wardens performed duties in helping the citizens and traffic control during Monday’s heavy rainfall. Heavy downpour played havoc with low lying areas of the city on Monday afternoon as rain water entered many houses in Korgani, Landhi, PECHS.
Jail authorities said that rain water has also entered Central Prison and affected its several barracks.
Sharea-Faisal was inundated by rain water at several places causing serious traffic jams starting from old Metropole Hotel toDrigh Road.
Similarly, Korangi Road was closed after flooding in Malir River near Kashmir Colony.
Several persons were injured as roof of a house collapsed in Bhitai Abad near Korangi Crossing.
A Met official said that Landhi observatory had recorded 130 millimeters of rain till 7.30 p.m., while Gulshan-e-Hadeed
received 75 m.m., Karachi Airport 69.2 m.m., Faisal Base 60 m.m., and North Karachi 13.5 m.m.
He said that rain will continue in the city during next 24 hours.

KU be exempted from loadshedding

University of Karachi, the biggest seat of learning in the country, be exempted from loadshedding. A demand to this effect has been made by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui.

The Registrar of the institution has addressed a letter to the Managing Director of the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC). ” It is a matter of serious concern for the Vice-Chancellor and the academic community of the University that during the operative time of the University, power supply is interrupted a number of times due to loadshedding by KESC”, the letter addressed to the Managing Director of KESC pointed out.

As a result the teaching process, scientific equipment, material/data, computers, chemicals, ongoing masters’ level examinations and the office work is affected, it was further stated.

The letter urged the KESC authorities to take immediate remedial measures and exempt Karachi University from loadshedding to ensure smooth teaching process and help save the equipment etc.

It also called for nomination of a supervisory team to look after the power-related issues at the University of Karachi.

As part of the Independence Day celebrations in the metropolis, the ” Hamara Karachi, Hamara
Pakistan ” was taken out on Tuesday.
Nazim Karachi, Syed Mustafa Kamal , Naib Nazim, Ms. Nasreen Jalil, Provincial Minister, Dr. Sagheer Ahmed, Advisers to Sindh Chief Minister, Wasim Akhtar and M.A. Jalil were present on the occasion.
The rally started at 4.45 p.m. from the KMC Building here under the auspices of the Hamara Karachi Foundation (HKF). It included 25 floats which were tastefully decorated. The performers were presenting the folk dances.
Flower petals were showered on the participants of the rally and slogans of Pakistan Zindabad were also chanted, says a statement.
From the KMC Building up to the mausoleum of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, four “cultural gates” were set up- Sindh Gate, Balochistan Gate, the Punjab Gate and NWFP Gate.
The artists also performed on the stage at these cultural gates.
The scouts of the City District Government schools played tunes on band and presented national songs.
At the `Numaish Chowrangi’, Syed Mustafa Kamal and Ms. Nasreen Jalil addressed the people.
They congratulated the people on the auspicious occasion of the independence day.
They said that on this occasion we should renew our pledge to undertake concerted efforts for the progress and prosperity of the country as well as its people.
They stated that Karachi is the city of all of us and its betterment is our collective responsibility.
They also chanted the slogans of `Pakistan Zindabad’ on the occasion.
They rally reached the premises of the mausoleum of the father of the Nation a little before Maghrib.
