World Telecommunication Day was observed across Pakistan on Saturday with the theme “Connecting Persons with disabilities: ICT opportunities for all”.
In the federal capital, Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani was the chief guest at a function to mark World Communication Day. The moot was organized by Pakistan Telecommunication Limited (PTCL) in collaboration with Ufone and Warid Telecom.

At the function, Prime Minister expressed strong resolve that the government was committed to extend fruits of advancement in telecommunication sector to all tiers of society, with specific focus on enabling disabled persons to benefit from Information Communication Technology (ICT).
“The persons with special needs will be encouraged as promoters of ICT, and become beneficiary of, building an all inclusive society,” he added.      Sindh Minister for Information Technology, Muhammad Raza Khan, emphasised the need of undertaking concerted efforts to enabling people with disabilities to benefit fully from the modern-day
technology.
He was speaking at a seminar held at a local hotel to mark the World Telecommunication Day.     Punjab Minister for Food Malik Nadeem Kamran addressed a seminar organized by PTA to celebrate World Telecom and Information Society Day at Lahore on Saturday.  Addressing the participants, the minister said the present day world was full of opportunities and access to Information and Communication Technology ICT tools and resource centers. It can serve the cause of taking the persons with disabilities into the mainstream human resource.
