Pakistan’s first global telecommunication congress, TeleCON’2008, gets underway in Karachi from April 29 with arrangements complete to host the country’s premier telecommunication event in a befitting manner.

An announcement to this effect was made by the organizers here on Sunday.
They said that the industry leaders from all over the country have arrived in the city to participate in the 2-day forum.

Designed to discuss the emergence and viability of new technologies in the next phase of the communication era in the world, including Pakistan, and the current and future telecom policy and framework, TeleCON’2008; is expected to be a benchmark event for the development of the industry.

Organized by SHAMROCK Conferences International and endorsed by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), speakers from Pakistan and international markets representing global organizations with close to US $10 billion in FDI in Pakistan since 2004, will deliver concepts, strategies, recommendations and insight into trends and challenges that will be the nucleus of the future of telecommunications in Pakistan, the organizers of the event further pointed out.
“TeleCON’2008 has been meticulously planned, having encouraged all key players in the telecom sector to converge in Karachi to deliberate and participate in a forum that has the merits of becoming a signature event of the industry in times to come. From highlighting Pakistan’s existing telecom infrastructure, unveiling the myth and reality of connectivity and mobility, value-additions, protection and challenges in customer care and other testing subjects will be the core of discussions at the moot,” said Menin Rodrigues, the Congress Chairman.

Telecom and IT companies being represented at TeleCON’2008 include, Mobilink, Telenor, Etisalat/PTCL, Motorola, Wateen Telecom, Nokia -Siemens, Multinet Pakistan, China Mobile Pakistan, Alcatel-Lucent, Nortel Networks Asia, Ericsson, Warid Telecom, Systems, Netsol Technologies, Limited Qualcomm USA and Central Asian CDMA Forum.
