Pakistan Telecommunications Company Limited (PTCL) has revolutionized communication with the launch of its IPTV service in Pakistan, says PTCL senior executive vice president (SEVP) Dr. Sadiq Al Jadir on Wednesday.
“With this state-of-the-art service, customers will be able to enjoy broadband and avail easy education facilities,” said the SEVP PTCL while addressing a PTCL customer care road show held at a local hotel here.
He said that PTCL was observing a customer care year from July 2008 to June 2009 during which customers will be offered more facilities and better services.
He said that number of PTCL subscribers was five million against 80 million mobile phone users. “We have to further expand our subscribers’ base.”
He announced that line men and CB installers will be provided with wireless phones and motorcycles.
He promised incentives and reward for employees on their contributions to attract people avail PTCL services.
He said that overall PTCL staff strength matches the international standards, however, admitted that some sections of
the company were facing shortage of staff.
Line staff will immediately be provided with 200 kits and the whole staff will get tool kits by September this year.
Customer care is the responsibility of every PTCL employee and they are required to improve the corporate image of the
company, Dr. Sadiq said.
He said that the working conditions of staff were being improved and training programmes will be offered to enhance their
capabilities.
Computer education has been declared as mandatory for all employees.
He said that officers will hold open Katcheries regularly to address complaints of the subscribers on the spot while an automated complaint redressal system has also been devised.
Subscribers have also been offered the facility to update data in case of change of their address or transfer of connection.
PTCL SEVP declared rectification of faulty lines as the biggest challenge and added that the existing complicated system was being replaced with a simpler one for speedy redressal of complaints.
Earlier, SEVP business zone (north) Naveed Saeed, EVP customer care Ahsan Rabbani, Tahir Mushtaq and GM Multan Telecom Region (MTR) Jam Shahid highlighted the salient features of PTCL services.
They said that MTR is the only region that has shown enhanced revenue. They added that complaints will be received by phone in regional languages too including Sindhi, Pashto, and Balochi. Currently this service was operational only in Urdu and English languages.
