Pakistan Telecommunications Company Limited (PTCL) has witnessed serious set-back in the services to its customers due to alleged wrong induction and promotion policies of the Company management which have created frustration in PTCL employees including Engineers.
The promotees have been made without maintaining seniority. The promotees included those who were picked to higher positions under OPS and many outsiders appointed directly on senior positions.     A group of aggrieved PTCL officers said that during the previous Government, the PTCL management had placed dozens of engineers and others officers under Own-Pay-Scale (OPS) scheme on higher positions.
They were posted against seats meant for officials in higher grade, without any reason/justification and allowed to use powers and facilities of these in higher positions, although they worked in their original lower grades.
Besides , they alleged, PTCL management inducted hundreds inexperienced people directly even to senior grades.
These decisions, they said, has created frustration among aggrieved officers who felt humiliated along with threat to their career.
According to them , top functionaries of the present Government were apprised of PTCL employees’ grievances including alleged wrong induction and the placement to higher positions and they got assurance for the revision of the wrong decisions.
However, they alleged, on September 5, the PTCL management promoted hundreds of those officers including Engineers placed in higher positions under OPS as well as outsiders directly occupying higher posts.
Such actions by PTCL management would only damage the company as the increasing frustration among majority of PTCL officers would result in further poor service to customers and company itself, they stated.
The PTCL Officers have appealed to President Asif Ali Zardari , Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, Federal Minister for Information Technology, Qamar Zaman Kaira and President PTCL to help provide them justice, and save their careers and the future of the company.
