The Leader of the House in the Senate, Mian Raza Rabbani has said that the government is very keen to promote information technology in the country.
He was speaking as chief guest at the 8th Teradata National IT Awards ceremony held here on Saturday night.
These awards were given in various IT categories against which companies nominated those employees who made outstanding contributions in the IT field.
According to organizers, these awards were monitored by an independent auditor.
Speaking on the occasion, Mian Raza Rabbani said that the landscape of information technology worldwide is changing rapidly and this is also true in Pakistan.
He pointed out that the information and communication technology is assuming the importance that it so richly deserves.
Raza Rabbani said that our education especially in IT is now getting the required attention.
He stated that numerous programmes have been initiated to align the academic education to the industry requirements to meet the growing demand from the ITC industry.
Raza Rabbani hoped that the industry would lend its support to such initiatives.
He was of the view that excellence needs to be encouraged and promoted in all walks of life.
Raza Rabbani appreciated the efforts of Teradata for organizing the excellence awards.
Speaking on the occasion, managing Director of teradata Pakistan, Khurum Rahat, said that his firm takes immense pride in hosting the IT Excellence Awards.
He said that this is a novel concept of recognizing people in the IT industry at the national level.
Khurrum hoped that the recipients of the awards would continue their efforts in IT.
The IT Excellence Awards in different categories were conferred at the ceremony.
