Mobilink Thursday was declared the winner of ‘Most Preferred Telecommunications Company 2008′ at the Graduate Employer Award organised by the Pakistan Society of Human Resource Management (PSHRM) and Engage Human Resources.
Mobilink, Pakistan’s market leader in cellular services with more than 30 million customers and part of Orascom Telecom, was recognised by PSHRM and Engage Human Resources at a ceremony announcing the results of the Most Preferred Graduate Employer 2008 study in which 1100 graduating MBA, Engineering and IT students were interviewed and asked which company they prefer to work for upon graduation.

The Most Preferred Graduate Employer study this year, covered students from Business Administration, Engineering and Information Technology.
The country’s largest mobile services company was chosen from amongst the best known telecommunication companies operating in Pakistan.      Compensation was one of the most important factors along with ample learning and career opportunities, managing employees’ career aspirations and providing them with opportunities for growth and development cited by graduating students in choosing an employer.

Zouhair A. Khaliq, President and CEO, Mobilink said, “It is an honour and a privilege to have been bestowed with this tribute, it is simply a testimony of the pioneering work the company has undertaken in the past few years, particularly 2008″.

“Our strong value and support system when is comes to human resource management is what makes us stand apart. With this distinction, the team at Mobilink continues to move on with renewed hopes and aspirations for reshaping the lives of people in Pakistan.
Our commitment to the development of telecommunication infrastructure, mobilization of cutting-edge technologies and creating job opportunities for talented people will not be hindered,” he added.      Mobilink by far is the biggest investor in the telecommunications sector in Pakistan with foreign direct investment  of more than US$2.5 billion and continues to make investments in several other categories of the business, including the deployment of many web-based services.

The company’s contribution to social development in the country has been second to none, including the establishment of the Mobilink Foundation which now manages a multitude of charitable and social causes which help reaching out to people in distress and in alleviating poverty in Pakistan.
Mobilink, a subsidiary of the Orascom Telecom Group, is Pakistan’s leading cellular service and market leader with an unmatched customer base of over 30 million subscribers.

The company has successfully achieved a record subscriber growth of 40 percent in 2007 and with over 7,500 cell sites, has coverage in over 10,000 cities, towns, and villages, through out Pakistan. International roaming is available in over 130 countries with more than 300 partner operators, and the company’s investment to date, is over US $2.5 billion.

It directly employs over 5,000 people, and facilitated through an integrated technology infrastructure, has the largest distribution network of over 200,000 retail outlets across Pakistan.
