Mobile phone users and sellers have criticised the imposition of Rs 500 per set import duty on mobile phones  in the budget 2008-09.
The import duty would increase prices of the cell phones and affect the business of cell phone , said Sajjid Malik, a mobile phones  seller from Hall road here on Wednesday.
He said that the government instead of imposing import duty and increasing prices of the mobile phones should work to set up and strengthen mobile phone industry in the country.
Imtiaz Ahmed, a mobile phone user said that imposition of the duty would harm the growth of the sector and create financial burden on  the mobile phone consumers.
