Pakistan’s first Mobile Testing Laboratory has been launched by Pakistan Standards and Quality Control
Authority (PSQCA).     A statement here on Tuesday said that the Federal Secretary, Science and Technology, Sharif Ahmad, inaugurated the laboratory at PSQCA Head Office, Karachi.It said that the lab is to provide data for all on-site organic analytical needs and that all analyses are performed in accordance with the PSQCA Act 6 of 1996.     Speaking on the occasion, Sharif said that this on-site alternative can save time and money on testing.
By providing cost effective, high-quality, defensible data in less than 24 hours time on site can be reduced dramatically. Less time on site means less money spent, he added.   Sharif said the production standards set by PSQCA are imperative and inevitable for fostering the country’s economy and the PSQCA was striving towards the enhancement of the standard and quality of the Pakistani products.     He was of the view that with improvement in quality the products produced in the country, these would gain acceptability both in the domestic as well as international markets.     Sharif said that this would help earn the country the precious foreign exchange.     He further pointed out that the PSQCA was working towards
fostering the quality culture.     Sharif asked the PSQCA to strive towards further enhancement of
its performance as this will promote demand of  Pakistani products both domestically as well as abroad.     He also asked to PSQCA to improve activities for solving the problems of Standardization and accreditation and pointed out that we are living in a global village and it is a need to extend countrywide
cooperation for common cause.
Sharif also asked to PSQCA to generate more funds on its own as this will help enhance the performance of the organization as well.     On the occasion, he also asked a number of questions about the performance of PSQCA and directed that it should initiate long term projects.     Sharif said that for gaining penetration in the international markets attention would have to be paid towards the production of quality products.     He also called for liaison and contacts between the PSQCA and the industries.     Sharif also visited the Laboratory and also went round the newly constructed Building of PSQCA Complex situated in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Karachi.
Director General of PSQCA, Dr. Abdul Ghaffar Soomro, briefed the Federal Secretary about the performance of the organization.
