A US company Ely Energy has introduced synthetic natural gas (SNG) technology for industrial sector, as an alternative source to natural gas in case of load shedding of gas or supply interruptions.
Representative of Ely Energy and chief executive of DynamicEngineering and Automation Owais Mir said SNG project will be commissioned at a leading tile manufacturer Emco Tiles next week in Lahore.
He said that SNG technology, a process of mixing the air with liquified petroleum gas (LPG) totally eliminates dependence on gas or electrical supplies. It is stored in a tank for use in case gas supply interruption or load shedding.
The company said that earlier this technology was introduced for residential consumers of Gwadar, through an agreement with the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) in 2006. This project has a remarkable success, he added.
Mir said that Nishat Textile Mills will also use this technology while negotiations were on with Sitara Textile and EarthquakeRehabilitation and Relief Agency (ERRA) for SNG technology.
He pointed out that SNG technology was successfully used at a large scale in USA, Europe, Latin America and Middle east, adding that the country’s exporting industrial units can take full advantage of the technology to avert energy crisis.
